Compose clips hold their last frame past the file
A compose clip that asks for more of its file than exists renders instead of failing. The last frame holds, silent, and the job names the clip and the fix.
A compose clip whose length, trim.to or speed asks for more of its file than the file has used to fail the whole job with RENDER_CLIP_EXCEEDS_SOURCE, after the download and probe had already run. A clip three frames too long failed the same way.
It renders now. The clip keeps exactly the timing you wrote. Once its file runs out, the last frame holds and the sound goes silent until the clip ends, so every clip after it and every other track stays where you put it. Animation clips hold their last pose.
The job tells you which clip it was and what fixes it, in the render step’s clipOverruns:
intro.mp4 at 12.00s: the clip runs 5.00s but the file is 3.00s long, so its last frame is held for 2.00s. Leave out `length` so the clip matches the file, or set it to 3.00 or less. The simplest way to never see it is to leave length out on video and audio clips. The clip then runs exactly as long as its file, measured when the job runs. Timing rules are in the compose docs.
