Mask a clip, grade it with a LUT, or go deeper
A mask effect cuts a clip to any image, lut grades it with a .cube file, and the engine entry reaches the render engine's own filters by name.
Effects can read a file now. It is fetched and checked the same way a clip’s source is.
{ "type": "mask", "src": "https://example.com/logo.png", "channel": "alpha" }A mask shows the clip only where the image says: white or opaque keeps it, black or clear cuts it away, grey fades it. Footage seen through a wordmark is one effect. lut takes a .cube grade from a colourist, and a wipe transition takes a greyscale map of your own, where black turns over first and white last.
For anything the promoted effects do not cover, one entry reaches the rest of the engine by its own names.
{ "type": "engine", "service": "avfilter.colorize", "params": { "av.hue": 200, "av.saturation": 0.6 } }Every service and property is checked against a catalog generated from the render image before the job starts, so a typo is a 400 rather than a render that fails halfway. An engine entry that duplicates a promoted effect is refused, so there is still one way to ask for each thing.
Both are in the effects section of the compose docs.
Both are entries in the effects list.
