# Placing and framing a clip
> Set a clip's position, scale, rotation, box, crop and opacity, and see every one of them before and after on one shot.
Every clip takes the same set of fields, whatever it holds. Each one below is the same shot on the same backdrop, changed in exactly one way.
## Where it sits
`position` is the clip's centre by default, as a percent of the frame or in pixels. `anchor` changes what the point refers to.
## How big it is
`scale` multiplies the clip's natural size. `size` gives it a box of its own, which the picture fills the way [fit](/docs/docs/jobs/compose/output#how-a-picture-fills-its-box) says, so a box plus cover is how a wide shot becomes a tall panel.

## Pinning to a surface
`corners` is the other form of a transform: four points instead of a position. It puts footage on a screen or a sign in the shot, and it does not combine with position, scale, rotate or fit.
