Every clip takes the same set of fields, whatever it holds. Each one below is the same shot on the same backdrop, changed in exactly one way.

Where it sits

before

position x 76%, y 26%

position is the clip’s centre by default, as a percent of the frame or in pixels. anchor changes what the point refers to.

before

anchor topLeft, same coordinates

How big it is

before

scale 0.34

scale multiplies the clip’s natural size. size gives it a box of its own, which the picture fills the way fit says, so a box plus cover is how a wide shot becomes a tall panel.

before

size 30% by 88%, fit cover

Turning and mirroring

before

rotate -7 degrees

before

flip horizontal

Trimming the edges

before

crop 18% top and bottom, 12% each side

before

crop radius 0.14

Pinning to a surface

corners is the other form of a transform: four points instead of a position. It puts footage on a screen or a sign in the shot, and it does not combine with position, scale, rotate or fit.

before

corners pinned to the laptop screen

How solid, and how fast

before

opacity 0.45

Keyframes on opacity are how a clip fades in or out. Anything that moves is on Keyframes and easing.

before

speed 2

Every field is in the clip reference.
